Education in singapore has been widely acclaimed and recognized for its success. in fact that it one of our ‘pull’factors when attracting foreign talent. yet, somehow, we students are unable to agree that our system is effective.

Lets just take a look at the flawed Education system. chances are that better students will go to JCs after our O levels. yet, we’ve only two years to prepare for the A levels…

on hindsight, it seems ironic right? you give us 4 years to prepare for ORDINARY level and only TWO years for ADVANCED level. doesn’t sound right does it?

worse if students are from what they call the Integrated Program. they probably waste 4 years engaged in ‘enriching holistic’ learning, then have to face a do or die zero sum game at J2. you do well you get it. don’t do well and god bless you

look I am not being cynical. I am just pointing out what the IP students face. my brother comes from a reputed IP school and guess what? he did not learn many things throughout the 4 secondary school years. now he has to catch up like crazy because of the flawed Education system

even for non IP schools like mine, we waste our first two years once again in ‘holistic’ Education. come on, if we really want to be holistic then do away with the one type zero sum GCE exams!

all attempts to be holistic have and will continue to fail sadly. though we may see its benefits, they are short term. do not expect us to show holistic qualities if we are to continue with this very inflexible Education system.

to MOE may I suggest that you begin to PUT YOURSElves IN OUR SHOES. your policies don’t revolve around your system. your policies revolve around US STUDENTS .

learn to understand us and we will learn to understand the world.
